Hrafn grew up in Birka the son of Magni a wealthy merchant. His youth was mostly spent learning trade and being taught the laws of the land as his father was also the local lawgiver. When not in these pursuits he was want to cause some mischief and it was said there was even a bit of Loki in him by the locals.
As he became a man he sailed with his father eastwards to the land of Fins where they traded furs with the mysterious Sami, some saying he even learned their strange ways, though Hrafn always denies this vigorously. From these lands he then travelled many times with his father eastwards to the land of the Rus trading in man flesh and occasionally raiding. But as the eastern silver begun to dry up news arrived that there was easy coin to be made in England So Hrafn along with a several of his father’s trading vessels set sail westwards for wealth and opportunity.
After sailing along the River Ouse to the town of Bedanforda he met up with Jarl Orms warband. Paying coin for the goods and man flesh the warband frequently bring back from their raids further inland and down the rivers into Wessex .Which he then sends back to his father to trade further east for great profit (often cheating his fellow Norse by using false weights and other such devious methods). Hrafn has also taken up the role of lawgiver in the community due to his education and knowledge but some see him as slippery character often underpaying for goods and rumours still abound of his time spent with the Sami people. Hrafn above all is a cutthroat merchant who is not afraid to use everything in his power to make a profit, Christian or Pagan is no difference, Gold and silver are his only god!
